Credit with starting the first journalistic department in 1962, Osmania University was till recently the only university to offer journalism course sliced into two years – one-year BCJ and one-year. However, in 2011-12, the university had revamped the courses combining the present one-year duration Bachelor of Communication and Journalism (BCJ) and one-year Masters in Communication and Journalism (MCJ).
Courses offered by the department are:
- Bachelor of Communication and Journalism (BCJ)
- Master of Communication and Journalism (MCJ)
The department started M.Phill programmes and PhD in 1974 and 2005 respectively.
The department has also been offering course in M.A. in Corporate Communications in distance mode through Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education (PGRRCDE) from the academic year 2011-12.
