The Hindu is launching its Mumbai edition soon

 

The Hindu is gearing up to launch its Mumbai edition soon. According to sources, Kasturi and Sons is looking to launch the broadsheet paper in Mumbai in the coming months, most likely around Diwali. It is also learnt that Sachin Kalbag, who is currently Executive Editor at Mid-Day, will join The Hindu as Resident Editor for the Mumbai edition.

When contacted, Kalbag neither confirmed nor denied the news. However, sources at Mid-Day confirmed that Kalbag was serving his notice period and that he was expected to join The Hindu in the second week of October 2015.

An email sent to Malini Parthasarthy, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, failed to elicit a response at the time of filing this report.

The Hindu, started in 1878 as a weekly, became a daily in 1889. As of October 2014, The Hindu is printed at 17 locations across eight states – Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Madurai, Noida, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Mangalore, Tiruchirappalli, Hubballi, Mohali, Lucknow, Allahabad, and Malappuram.
