Five Year Integrated Program – Detailed Scheme

Five Year Integrated Program in by DU in Mass Communication
The School will offer a Five Year Integrated Program in Journalism in two languages English and Hindi.
The program offers an exit option after three years; in that case, the student will be awarded Degree of Bachelors in Journalism (BJ) by Delhi University.
The students completing two years postgraduate course will be awarded the Degree of Masters in Journalism (MJ) by Delhi University.
The course includes the teaching of four foreign languages (French, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic) and two regional languages (Tamil and Bengali) in ten semesters.

Admission Criteria: Entrance test and interview for selecting students for this course.

B.A. (Hons.) Hindi Journalism & Mass Communication

Post Graduate Diploma In Business Journalism and Corporate Communication (DBJCC)

Started in 2004, this one year programme aims to provide students with an insight into the corporate world. The programme equips students with skills in Corporate Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, and Business Journalism. This programme is offered by Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Pitampura.

It is the only course, one of its kind, being pursued at the Delhi University and is affiliated to the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences & Humanities, South Campus, University of Delhi.

Admission Criteria: Admission to DBJCC is based on the entrance test conducted by the college with 80% weightage, interview with 10% weightage & group discussion with 10% weightage. The admission test will be of 2 hours duration and will consist of objective type questions with weightage on:

  • Economics and Business Awareness (30% weightage)
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs (20% weightage)
  • General English (20% weightage)
  • Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning (30% weightage)

The advertisement about the admission is published in May, while sale of prospects also start in the same month. The college conducts entrance test for admission to this programme in July.

Department of Journalism in Kalindi College was established in 1995 and since then it has been offering BA (Hons) Journalism course to students. The Department of Journalism was established in 1989 in the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. It is a pioneer department in the University of Delhi. Ranked 8th among the top ten institutions/colleges for mass communication and journalism in the year 2014-15 in a survey conducted by India Today in partnership with The Nielson Company, today it stands for excellence in journalism and media education. The B.A (H) Journalism course aims at foregrounding the role of journalism in a democracy. It helps the students to refine their linguistic and communicative skills. Institute of Home Economics

Institute of Home Economics, established in 1961, started offering journalism courses to students in 2017. Currently, the institute offers BA (Hons) Journalism course to students. Indraprastha College for Women

In 1999 Indraprastha College for Women, with its finger on the pulse of the times, had introduced the Bachelor of Mass Media and Mass Communication (BMMMC). Delhi School of Journalism is currently one and only DU college that offers only journalism courses to students. The college was established by the university in 2017 and is located in the lush green and spacious campus at University Sports Stadium of DU North Campus.
