Manorama School of Communication (MASCOM), Kottayam, claims to teach journalism with a hands-on and no-nonsense approach and without frills and hype. MASCOM, launched  in 2002, by the 125-year-old Malayala Manorama group, is an acknowledged centre of excellence for journalism training in India. Although the medium of instruction at MASCOM is English, but students are free to choose between English and Malayalam streams for specialisation.

Course Offered

MASCOM offers a full-time course in print journalism, leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. The course is organised in three trimesters, each of 12 weeks duration. In addition, students will serve a three-week internship after the third trimester and undertake at least two field trips during the course.

For admission, MASCOM conducts an entrance exam which is held in the month of May. Entrance exam is held at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and various centres in Kerala. The entrance exam is followed by an at MASCOM in Kottayam in July every year.
