Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel launches 16-channel educational network

 

Gujarat became the first state to launch 16 channels as part of its educational network Vande Gujarat, delivering lessons on primary to higher education and also variety of other subjects from agriculture to health.

“The channels launched today will impart training & information for various sectors including education, agriculture, women  empowerment, sports among others,” said Chief Minister Anandiben Patel at the inauguration.

“In this 21st century of science and technology, the government is committed to deliver what is best in the field right up to the television sets at homes.”

Bhashkaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG) relayed only a few educational programmes on Vande Gujarat network on two channels using GSAT8 with the help of Indian Space Research Organisation. This has been now transformed into an educational network with 16 channels with 24X7 telecast.

 The subscribers would have to install a separate set-top box for Rs 1,200 to 1,500 to view these channels. However, there would be no monthly subscription.
